Hash Generator — MD5 and SHA
Type text and generate MD5 (via js-md5) plus SHA-1, SHA-256, and SHA-512 through the Web Crypto API. Hashing is one-way — this tool cannot reverse a hash. MD5 and SHA-1 are provided for compatibility, not for password storage.
Your workspace
Runs in your browser————How to use
- 1Paste the text to hash.
- 2Generate or wait for live updates.
- 3Copy the digest you need.
What this tool does
- — Four algorithms
- — Live hashing as you type
- — Copy per algorithm
Useful when
- — Checksum comparisons
- — Quick SHA-256 of a string
Limits
- — Not a file hasher (text only).
- — MD5 and SHA-1 are weak for security-sensitive use.
Where processing happens
SHA hashes use crypto.subtle.digest. MD5 uses the js-md5 library. Text never leaves the browser.
Questions
Can I decrypt a hash here?+
No. Hashes are one-way. There is no decrypt function.
