How to turn PDF pages into JPG images

Chat apps and CMS fields often refuse PDFs. Rendering each page to a JPEG is a practical workaround, with the usual raster tradeoffs.

What the converter actually does

pdf.js draws each page onto a canvas at 2× the PDF’s CSS pixel viewport, fills a white background, and encodes JPEG. Text in the image is not selectable. If you need the words, use PDF to Text on a file that already has a text layer.

Memory

Long image-heavy PDFs can stall a phone browser. If that happens, split the PDF first and convert a shorter range.

Questions

Will the JPG look as sharp as the PDF?+

Vectors and type are rasterized. Fine type can soften. 2× scale helps but is not a print RIP.
