How to prepare PDF attachments for office email
For office workers
A colleague asks for a report, a receipt packet or just the signature page. Sending exactly the requested material makes the attachment easier to review. These browser tools help assemble copies, but you still need to check your workplace rules and review the final files.
Choose merge or extract before starting
Merge combines complete PDF files. Split extracts a selection from an existing PDF into one new document. If a colleague only wants pages 3 and 4, extract those pages instead of sending a whole report. Keep the source document so that you can check the result.
For a receipt packet, place documents in a sensible order such as date or expense category. The merger uses the order shown in the selected file list. Password-protected or unusually large PDFs may need a different approved workflow.
Extract the pages the recipient requested
Use one-based page numbers: the first PDF page is 1, even when a report prints a different page number in its footer. A range such as 2-4, 7 keeps those document pages in the listed order. Correct invalid or out-of-bounds entries before extraction.
Open the new PDF and verify the number and order of pages. Removing pages is not a secure redaction workflow: it does not guarantee removal of all hidden information, metadata or sensitive material within a retained page. Use an approved redaction tool when redaction is required.
Copy text or prepare a photo attachment
PDF to Text can extract an existing text layer from a digital report. A scan with no text layer will need OCR elsewhere. Check extracted text against the original before quoting tables, figures or statements because reading order can change.
For a separate photo attachment, the Image Compressor makes a JPEG copy. Review detail and file size after downloading. It is not a PDF compressor, and merge or split should not be advertised as a reliable way to meet a fixed email size limit.
Review policy and the final attachment
Tool inputs are processed inside the browser, but the website still loads scripts and libraries. Follow your organization's policy for confidential material and approved software. Local processing does not by itself establish compliance with that policy.
Verify the recipients, actual attachment size and the final document. Interactive forms, bookmarks and signatures may be affected by PDF rewriting. If a file is digitally signed, ask for the approved way to share it and preserve the original. Send through your usual email or collaboration system; ToolNest does not send attachments.
Questions
Does extracting pages securely redact a report?+
No. It selects pages, and it is not a secure redaction or metadata-removal tool.
Can I extract text from a scanned receipt?+
Only if the PDF already contains a usable text layer. This tool does not perform OCR.
