How to merge PDF files in your browser

Merging PDFs is usually a “get this attachment out the door” job. You should not have to create an account or send a contract to an unknown converter. ToolNest’s merger copies pages with pdf-lib inside the tab you already have open.

When merging is the right tool

Use merge when you already have complete PDF files and you want them in a single download: a cover letter plus a scan, several receipts, or exports from different apps. If you only need a few pages from one file, split instead of merging first.

Steps

Open the PDF Merger, then:

  • Add at least two PDF files. They merge in the order they appear in the list.
  • Remove a file if it was added by mistake.
  • Run Merge PDFs and download the result.

What stays local

The files you pick are read by JavaScript in this browser. ToolNest does not provide a server endpoint that receives those PDFs. If you close the tab before downloading, the merged document is gone — keep the originals until you confirm the download.

Limits worth knowing

Encrypted files may refuse to load. Interactive forms and some bookmarks may not copy. Very large mergers can hit browser memory limits. Those are browser and library limits, not an artificial ToolNest quota.

Questions

Can I merge PDFs on a phone?+

Yes, if the browser can open the file picker. Large files are harder on mobile memory.
